Kin Tea, Kagoshima Inaka Network

Kin is an organic tea company based in Perth that stands for the ‘Kagoshima Inaka Network’. Kagoshima is a tea region in Japan (also Perth’s sister city), while ‘inaka’ is the Japanese word for ‘countryside’ – where all the best produce is grown.
The brand identity expresses the scenic countryside of Kagoshima, from rolling hills to manicured samurai gardens. The stitching pattern on the labels were inspired by a local sashiko artist, representing Kagoshima’s artisan community.
‘Kin’ means gold in Japanese. In English, it tells a story of kinship between two cultures – Japan and Australia.
